Carcharhinus Obscurus is found on Protea Banks during our winter months
Best time is Jul – Sep

The Dusky Shark is not very well known internationally but it is common in our area.
Duskies are the main shark species getting caught in our hated Shark Nets along the swimming beaches and lots of Dusky Sharks are spotted during the Sardine Run.
On Protea Banks we see Duskies often mixed with Hammerheads and on our Baited Shark Dives. This shark however is very shy and prefers to stay in the background. Rather difficult to photograph.

We recognise a Dusky Shark by comparing them to a Black Tip Shark with a flat nose and stretched body. ( not very scientific but it works…)
